Changes to the FAFSA (for U.S. Citizens & Eligible Non-Citizens)
Simpler Application & Updated Eligibility:
You can expect a shorter, simpler application with fewer questions. Changes to eligibility include an update to the formula used to determine your aid.

Changes to the TASFA (for Non-Citizens & Undocumented Students with Texas Residency)
Going Online:
The TASFA is transitioning from a paper form to an online application.
When Will These Changes Take Place?
These changes will start with the new 2024-2025 FAFSA & TASFA which is set to launch in December 2023. The exact date will be posted here when announced by the Department of Education. The 2024-2025 FAFSA & TASFA will allow you to apply for financial aid for the fall 2024, spring 2025, and summer 2025 semesters.

If you need financial aid for spring 2024, you need to complete the 2023-2024 FAFSA which is available for you to complete now at StudentAid.gov/FAFSA. Use school code 012015 and monitor Self-Service for updates on your financial aid. To complete the 2023-2024 TASFA (for non-citizens and undocumented Texas residents), follow these steps.
If you have already submitted your 2023-2024 FAFSA (or TASFA), there’s no need to reapply for the spring term. Check Self-Service for updates on your spring financial aid.
Can I get financial aid for the fall 2023 semester?
Yes! You can still apply for financial aid for this school year including fall 2023, spring 2024, and summer 2024 – even if the semester is almost over (or already over)!

The FAFSA is changing to make it simpler for students and families to apply for college aid. These changes were made possible by the FAFSA Simplification Act, which aims to simplify the process of getting federal student aid.
