{"id":45,"date":"2022-05-31T20:30:43","date_gmt":"2022-05-31T20:30:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/students.austincc.edu\/financial-aid\/?page_id=45"},"modified":"2026-02-03T16:35:24","modified_gmt":"2026-02-03T16:35:24","slug":"eligible-programs-classes","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/students.austincc.edu\/financial-aid\/apply-for-financial-aid\/eligibility\/eligible-programs-classes\/","title":{"rendered":"Eligible Programs &amp; Classes"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Programs &amp; classes determine aid eligibility<\/h2>\n<p>Review the information below to ensure your program and classes are eligible for financial aid.<\/p>\n<p>To receive financial aid, you must:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Major in any ACC associate degree program OR an eligible certificate program; and<\/li>\n<li>Take classes that apply directly to your degree or certificate plan.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ineligible or partially eligible programs of study<\/h2>\n<p>See below for information on programs and classes that have financial aid restrictions.<\/p>\n<p><div class=\"list\"><p class=\"trigger\"><a href=\"#\">Ineligible certificates &amp; awards<\/a><\/p><div class=\"toggle_container\"><div class=\"block\"><\/p>\n<p>The following certificate programs are not eligible for financial aid funding because they do NOT meet the minimum requirements set by the U.S. Department of Education.&nbsp;<strong><em> <\/em><\/strong>Institutional Certificates, Enhanced Skills Certificates, and Occupational Skills Awards are not eligible for financial aid.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ineligible Program Certificates &amp; Awards<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>All Institutional Certificates<\/li>\n<li>All Enhanced Skills Certificates<\/li>\n<li>All Occupational Skills Awards<\/li>\n<li>Application Development: Swift Level 1<\/li>\n<li>Automation, Robotics &amp; Controls Technology Level I<\/li>\n<li>Electrical Construction I<\/li>\n<li>Nanoelectronics Technology Level I<\/li>\n<li>Pharmacy Technician Level 1<\/li>\n<li>Retail Management Level 1<\/li>\n<li>Emergency Medical Technician Level I<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/p>\n<p><div class=\"list\"><p class=\"trigger\"><a href=\"#\">Partially eligible certificates<\/a><\/p><div class=\"toggle_container\"><div class=\"block\"><\/p>\n<p><strong>Programs of Study Partially Eligible for Financial Aid<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Advanced Automotive Level I (Certificate)<\/li>\n<li>Automotive Technology (Advanced Technical Certificate)<\/li>\n<li>Cardiovascular-Interventional Technology (Advanced Technical Certificate)<\/li>\n<li>Cardiovascular Sonography (Advanced Technical Certificate)<\/li>\n<li>CIT-App Development Coding &amp; Design Level I<\/li>\n<li>Computed Tomography (Advanced Technical Certificate)<\/li>\n<li>Firefighter Level 1 (Certificate)<\/li>\n<li>Information Systems Auditor (Advanced Technical Certificate)<\/li>\n<li>Magnetic Resonance Imaging (Advanced Technical Certificate)<\/li>\n<li>Marine Engine Repair Advanced Level I (Certificate)<\/li>\n<li>Medical-Vascular Sonography (Advanced Technical Certificate)<\/li>\n<li>Motorcycle Repair Advanced Level I (Certificate)<\/li>\n<li>Professional Photography \u2013 Photo &amp; Digital Tech Level 1 (Certificate)<\/li>\n<li>Small Engine Repair Advanced Level I (Certificate)<\/li>\n<li>Technical Art (Advanced Technical Certificate)<\/li>\n<li>Woodworking Level I (Certificate)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Course limits<\/h2>\n<p>Federal regulations limit how much financial aid you can receive for the following coursework.<\/p>\n<p><div class=\"list\"><p class=\"trigger\"><a href=\"#\">Repeat classes<\/a><\/p><div class=\"toggle_container\"><div class=\"block\"><\/p>\n<p>You can retake a class and receive financial aid under the following circumstances.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You have never passed&nbsp;a&nbsp;certain class&nbsp;and need to retake it for a passing grade.<\/li>\n<li>You took a class and received a passing grade, and you would like to take it one more time. Any repeats of a successfully completed class after the first repeat are ineligible for aid. Note the repeat course policy for financial aid is separate from&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.austincc.edu\/tuition-and-financial-aid\/repeating-a-class-third-course-attempt\">institutional academic policies regarding repeat courses<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/p>\n<p><div class=\"list\"><p class=\"trigger\"><a href=\"#\">Developmental Education<\/a><\/p><div class=\"toggle_container\"><div class=\"block\"><\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Developmental reading, writing, and math classes are eligible for financial aid up to a maximum 30 credits of attempted coursework.<\/li>\n<li>ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) classes are eligible for financial aid up to a maximum 24 credits.<\/li>\n<li>International bachelor\u2019s (IB) degree holders cannot receive financial aid for ESOL coursework.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/p>\n<p><div class=\"list\"><p class=\"trigger\"><a href=\"#\">Continuing Education &amp; audited classes<\/a><\/p><div class=\"toggle_container\"><div class=\"block\"><a href=\"https:\/\/admissions.austincc.edu\/registration\/course-audits\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Audited classes<\/a> are not eligible for financial aid. Some classes through <a href=\"https:\/\/continue.austincc.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Continuing Education<\/a> are eligible for financial aid.
