ACC&#8217;s Financial Aid Office is committed to providing guidance and support to ensure a smooth transition for both first-time applicants and returning students.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" style=\"font-size:29px\"><strong>Latest Updates from the Department of Education<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><div class=\"list\"><p class=\"trigger\"><a href=\"#\">Conflicting Tax Information Due to FAFSA Processing Issues (August 9, 2024)<\/a><\/p><div class=\"toggle_container\"><div class=\"block\"><\/p>\n<p>The Department of Education has alerted colleges that some federal tax information was not correctly processed in certain FAFSA applications. This issue involves a discrepancy between manually entered tax data and data transferred from the IRS. As a result, colleges need to gather additional information from affected students to ensure their financial aid offers are accurate.<\/p>\n<p>The ACC Financial Aid Office has reached out to impacted students and is actively working with them to collect the necessary information to update their financial aid offers.<\/p>\n<p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/p>\n<p><div class=\"list\"><p class=\"trigger\"><a href=\"#\">Delay in Processing FAFSA Corrections and Paper Submissions (May 10, 2024)<\/a><\/p><div class=\"toggle_container\"><div class=\"block\"><\/p>\n<p>The Department of Education is currently experiencing delays in processing FAFSA corrections submitted by colleges and paper FAFSA submissions from students for the 2024-2025 academic year.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>FAFSA Corrections by Colleges:<\/strong> If our office needs to correct your FAFSA due to additional documents you submitted, these will not be processed until late June. The ACC Financial Aid Office will notify you via <a href=\"https:\/\/students.austincc.edu\/help\/accmail\/\">ACCMail<\/a> once any necessary corrections have been processed and your financial aid offer is available.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Paper FAFSA Submissions by Students:<\/strong> Paper FAFSA forms submitted to the Department of Education will also experience delays in processing until late June. For faster processing, the Department of Education strongly recommends submitting the FAFSA online at <a href=\"https:\/\/studentaid.gov\/FAFSA\">StudentAid.gov\/FAFSA<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Note: <\/strong>Students can still make necessary corrections directly to their FAFSA without any delays in processing. This ongoing effort includes reprocessing FAFSA forms impacted by application errors and enhancing access for contributors without a Social Security number.
