Check out the details <a href=\"https:\/\/students.austincc.edu\/honors-program\/events\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/students.austincc.edu\/honors-program\/events\/\">here<\/a>. <\/mark><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Program Overview<\/h2>\n<p style=\"font-style:normal;font-weight:400\">ACC\u2019s Honors Program offers core curriculum courses with an emphasis on in-depth research and discussion in small classes limited to 15 students, taught by faculty who enhance their students\u2019 academic experiences with special projects, field trips, guest lectures, and a variety of creative and experiential learning opportunities. The seminar environment allows students close interaction with faculty and other highly motivated Honors students.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-style:normal;font-weight:400\">Completely free to join, the Honors Program also provides access to paid internships, scholarships, and valuable leadership and service opportunities. Taking Honors courses give students a competitive advantage when transferring to four-year colleges and universities; each course receives an Honors designation on ACC transcripts.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-white-color has-luminous-vivid-orange-background-color has-text-color has-background wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/fs27.formsite.com\/accpicm\/mhaewy3ppp\/index.html\" style=\"border-radius:3px\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Apply to the Honors Program<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Program Benefits<\/h2>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Small class sizes that foster in-depth discussion<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/students.austincc.edu\/honors-program\/course-profiles\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/students.austincc.edu\/honors-program\/course-profiles\/\">Coursework<\/a> involving research, independent inquiry, project-based learning, creative expression, service-learning, and other kinds of experiential learning<\/li>\n<li>Special events and programming<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.austincc.edu\/students\/honors-program\/scholars\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Honors Scholars<\/a>&nbsp;receive recognition on transcripts, a digital badge, and honor stoles for graduation ceremonies<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/students.austincc.edu\/honors-program\/honors-ambassadors\/\">Paid internships<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/students.austincc.edu\/honors-program\/honors-scholarships\/\">scholarships<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Transfer Agreements: ACC\u2019s Honors Program has&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.austincc.edu\/students\/honors-program\/transfer-agreements\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">agreements<\/a>&nbsp;with certain Texas universities that allow students to easily apply credit they\u2019ve earned at ACC to their university education<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Recent transfer destinations of ACC Honors Students include University of Texas, Texas State University, Texas A&amp;M University, University of North Texas, Huston-Tillotson University, St. Edward&#8217;s University, Southwestern University, Rice University, Southern Methodist University, Georgia Institute of Technology, Rutgers University, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, University of Virginia, Georgetown University, Brown University, Columbia University, Cornell University, Yale University, and Harvard University.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Program Eligibility<\/h2>\n<p>Meet at least one of the following minimum requirements:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Top 15 percent of graduating high school class<\/li>\n<li>Cumulative high school GPA of 3.5 or higher on a 4-point scale<\/li>\n<li>26 or higher on the ACT or 1170 or higher on the SAT (Critical Reading &amp; Math sections only)<\/li>\n<li>Cumulative college GPA of 3.25 or higher (after completion of nine or more transferable credit hours)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Since intellectual motivation is a significant factor in determining academic success, those who fall slightly short of the criteria but who wish to undertake the challenge may be admitted at the discretion of the Honors Associate Dean. For students who are returning to college after at least five years and would like a &#8220;fresh start,&#8221; we will consider only the most recent college grades. Students take an active role in their scholarly development by exploring topics of societal and global significance through in-depth discussion, research, independent inquiry, creative scholarship, and different kinds of experiential learning in a supportive, inclusive environment.
