A career in Advanced Manufacturing is about building, and maintaining cutting-edge high tech machines––like semiconductors, robots, and advanced automation. Austin Community College District (ACC) offers a full spectrum of stackable credentials from high school dual credit programs to entry-level skills certificates, associate degree programs, and even a bachelor’s degree program to help students get started and advance in their careers.
ACC also is home to the IMPACT Lab, a new manufacturing incubator that provides specialized facilities for start-up companies to develop prototypes and products.
For students, ACC’s IMPACT Lab offers real-world learning experiences through exposure to industry equipment and potential internships.
ACC is recognized nationally as a leader in advanced manufacturing and semiconductor workforce training.
The college developed the Semiconductor Technician Advanced Rapid Start (STARS) program to quickly upskil and preparel workers for manufacturing technician roles. This 4-week, full-time course combines theoretical and hands-on training, tailored with industry input to address workforce needs and enhance career mobility. Its curriculum is being looked at and studied by colleges and universities nationwide to help build a manufacturing workforce.
