Austin Community College District (ACC) hosts the inaugural Austin Trades Day. This event is a unique opportunity to learn about exciting career paths in the skilled trades—industries vital to Texas’s growth and economy.

“Austin Trades Day will give students a firsthand look at the many career opportunities available in the trades, allowing them to envision a future in fields critical to Texas’s infrastructure and economy,” says Troy DeFrates, interim dean of Design, Manufacturing, Construction & Applied Tech.

Austin Trades Day

Date: Friday, November 15
Time: 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Location: ACC Riverside Campus, 1020 Grove Blvd.

ACC partnered with the Construction Industry Education Foundation, Workforce Solutions Capital Area, and We Build Texas Roads on the event. Participants will connect with leading employers like the City of Austin’s Transportation and Public Works Department, JE Dunn Construction, Skillpoint Alliance, and the Texas Department of Transportation.

Austin Trades Day is packed with interactive activities and hands-on demos led by industry experts. Whether you’re interested in construction, design, electrical work, or other technical fields, this is a chance to see the tools, equipment, and day-to-day tasks up close. Meet professionals who work in the field, explore what it’s like to work on major projects, and discover the many opportunities available in these essential careers.

At Austin Trades Day, you’ll also get a sneak peek at the upcoming Austin Infrastructure Academy at ACC. This Academy will offer specialized training in high-demand areas like construction, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical work, helping students move directly from training to careers with Texas employers. Programs at the Infrastructure Academy will include hands-on experience, job-focused education, and support services to guide you from the classroom to job placement.
