Three months after Lockhart voters chose to join the Austin Community College District (ACC), the College is officially launching night and weekend classes in Lockhart starting Monday, February 17.

ACC is kicking off its expansion with four general education courses at Lockhart High School, making it easier for students in the area to get in-person instruction. The College will begin with four 12-week general education classes in:

  • English Composition I (ENGL 1301)
  • Introduction to Psychology (PSYC 2301)
  • Texas State and Local Government (GOVT 2306)
  • Effective Learning Strategies (EDUC 1300)

In November 2024, Lockhart ISD voters approved a special annexation ballot item to join the ACC District.

What’s Next for ACC in Lockhart?

  • More Classes & Programs – Additional academic and Continuing Education programs are in development. Dual credit classes will continue, helping high school students get ahead.

  • Career & Workforce Training – ACC is working with local businesses to create career pathways, internships, and job placement opportunities for students.
