As the spring semester wraps up, Austin Community College District (ACC) is preparing to honor the accomplishments of its students at the spring 2025 Commencement ceremony. More than 3,300 students are invited to participate this spring. When combined with the 3,940 students invited to the fall ceremony last December, the total number of graduates marks a 7% increase from the previous year.

“When I started at ACC, I wasn’t sure what to expect, I just knew that I had to get a degree and try to push past the mentality that I wasn’t capable of doing well,” say Shea Trumeter, ACC graduate. “ACC has been incredibly supportive to me. They walked me through hard concepts, celebrated my victories, told me jokes, laughed at mine, and made me feel very nurtured in this journey. Their patience and care is the kindest gift they could have ever given me.”
“I remember the first moment I stepped into the classroom like it was yesterday. ACC gave me a strong foundation of knowledge and hands-on experience that has benefited me in every area of my life, both professionally and personally,” says Carlos Rodriquez, ACC Bachelor of Applied Technology in Manufacturing Engineering Technology graduate. “It feels amazing. I still can’t believe it! It’s like a dream come true, and there’s an overwhelming sense of satisfaction and completeness.”
“This is why we do what we do. Commencement is more than a ceremony — it’s a celebration of the strength, brilliance, and determination our students show every day,” says ACC Chancellor Dr. Russell Lowery-Hart. “These students have balanced jobs, families, and countless challenges to cross this stage. They are the reason community colleges exist — to create opportunity, open doors, and help people change their lives. Watching them reach this milestone is the most inspiring part of our work.”
