Austin Community College District (ACC) welcomes April Justice as the College’s first Deputy Chief Information Officer (CIO).
“As a lifelong resident of Central Texas and former chairman of the executive board for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Texas, I know the importance of institutions like ACC to the Community. I am excited to be a part of the institution and to support the ACC vision,” says Justice.
In this new role within the College’s IT Department, Justice will lead technology transformation projects, contribute to ACC’s technology roadmap, and ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet established goals. Key duties include:
- Managing IT teams,
- Coaching staff,
- Developing service frameworks,
- Overseeing vendor relationships,
- Acting as a technical sponsor for projects, and
- Handling both operational and project budgets.
This role reports to ACC’s CIO, Jason Marshall, and involves cross-departmental collaboration, strategic planning, and performance monitoring. The Deputy CIO also plays a central role in establishing IT service management standards and best practices.
“I’ve spent the bulk of my career on transformative IT initiatives, and I am very excited to leverage my past corporate experience to help Jason and team transform the ACC IT experience for all users,” says Justice.
Justice brings 25 years of experience in Information Technology to ACC. Before joining the College, April was a managing director at Charles Schwab responsible for the Application Modernization program as well as providing leadership and oversight for service-level management and availability; change, problem, service, and incident management; and asset/configuration management.
Before Schwab, Justice was a director in Global Infrastructure at General Motors, and in management roles at AMD and Dell.
Justice received her Master of Science in Management Information Systems and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Texas A&M University.
Justice began this new role on Monday, May 19.
