ACC celebrated a ribbon-cutting for its newly expanded Dental Hygiene training facilities and clinic at Eastview Campus on Wednesday, October 1, 2025. The project is the first completed from ACC’s 2022 Bond Program.

“This project came directly from our community’s voice. People came to board meetings and told us what they needed, and these bond projects are our response. They’re shaped by data and designed around the needs of our employers and our students,” said ACC Chancellor Dr. Russell Lowery-Hart. “This is what happens when a community invests in its community college, and why these projects are so critical to building the workforce our region needs.”

What’s new?

  • 13,850 newly renovated spaces at Eastview Campus
  • Doubled the number of dental operatories in the clinic — from 16 to 32
  • Created new materials lab, sterilization room, X-Ray room, and other support spaces

“All of the clinical training our students receive is on-site. We see real patients from the public who come into our clinic, and we provide very high-quality care. By having this full service, we can support our students, the workforce, and our community,” said Michelle Landrum, ACC Dental Hygiene Department Chair. “It’s been great because even with twice the number of students, we also doubled the number of faculty. So our students still get the same 1-on-1 instruction and level of care as before.”

For students, this means more hands-on training in a real-world environment with the latest technology like digital X-rays, intraoral cameras, scanners, and dental lasers. It also means more affordable preventive care services. ACC’s on-site clinic provides low-cost options for patients — a big deal if you don’t have dental insurance or are working with a student budget.

By expanding facilities, ACC can admit more students into its nationally recognized program while also offering more families in Central Texas access to quality care. Data show students who enroll in the College’s program rank among the top in our state and in the nation. Both the 2024 and 2025 graduating classes from ACC’s Dental Hygiene program are celebrating major successes, including:

  • 100% on-time program completion
  • 100% persistence from semester to semester
  • 100% year-end pass rates on both the Dental Hygiene National Board (written exam) and the clinical regional exam

This project is the first of many improvements funded by the 2022 General Obligation Bond that will continue to grow ACC’s health sciences programs, along with other programs and expanded student opportunities.
