Austin Community College District (ACC) issues an urgent security warning regarding a new phishing campaign targeting students.
An official-looking email is being sent to students that uses the ACC logo and claims the district is “Upgrading Our Security Measure” by “implementing 2-step Verification (2SV).”
The image you are seeing (similar to the one below) is a fake designed to steal your account credentials and personal data. ACC did not send this email and it is a phishing attempt.
If you received the email, please report it as phishing and delete it. Do not click on any links or scan the QR Codes.
Please remember:
- ACC will never ask you to scan a random QR code in an email to verify or secure your account.
- ACC will never request your mobile number in this manner to complete a security process.
If you receive this or any suspicious email, please follow these steps:
- DO NOT click any links or scan any QR codes.
- DO NOT reply to the message.
- DO NOT provide any personal or account information.
What To Do If You Find This Email:
If you scanned the code or entered any information, please change your ACC password immediately.
