Looking for a low-pressure way to unwind, connect with other students, or just take a break from classes this fall? Campus Craft Corner, hosted by ACC Mental Health Counseling Services at the Riverside Campus, gives students a welcoming space to slow down, get creative, and support their emotional well-being.
Led by ACC Mental Health Counselor Ashley Chowdhury, Campus Craft Corner is a relaxed, drop-in creative wellness group. Each session combines a beginner-friendly craft project with an emotional wellness theme, such as stress management, self-compassion, coping skills, gratitude, identity, or goal-setting.
“Crafting has been a meaningful form of self-care in my own life,” Chowdhury said. “It gives me space to slow down, quiet my mind, express what I may not always have words for, and create something meaningful.”
Chowdhury hopes to create that same kind of space for ACC students — one where they can use creativity as an outlet, meet new people, and have fun, too.
“My hope is that students leave feeling calmer, encouraged, and a little more connected.”
What to Expect in a Crafting Session
Each session will include a featured craft with step-by-step guidance, a brief emotional wellness check-in, optional reflection prompts, supportive conversation, and a practical wellness takeaway. Participation and personal sharing are always optional.
Students may arrive any time during the two-hour session and stay as long as their schedules allow. No crafting experience is needed, and all basic supplies are provided.
