Austin Community College District (ACC) celebrated the opening of its new Automotive Technology facility at the Round Rock Campus with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday, October 8.

The 36,500-square-foot facility more than doubles the space available for Automotive Technology students at the campus, giving Riverbats more room to learn, practice, and prepare for careers in a changing automotive industry.

The project adds:

  • 36,500 square feet of Automotive Technology training space to Round Rock Campus
  • Dedicated space for ACC’s partnership with Toyota through the T-TEN program
  • Modern automotive labs and hands-on learning spaces
  • Space designed to support the evolving needs of the automotive industry, including potential future Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) training

ACC’s Automotive Technology programs are designed to help students move from the classroom into the workforce with practical skills and industry credentials.

That includes ACC’s T-TEN program, a partnership with Toyota that combines classroom instruction with hands-on training and opportunities to prepare for careers working with Toyota and Lexus vehicles. Toyota recently recognized ACC’s T-TEN program as the nation’s top-performing T-TEN school for student success, based on outcomes including graduation, retention, and industry certifications.

Automotive Technology is just one part of a larger expansion of hands-on career training at the Round Rock Campus.

New and expanded spaces for Semiconductor Training, Heating, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technology, and Welding Technology are expected to open in 2027, giving more students opportunities to train for careers in high-demand fields.

The new facility is part of ACC’s broader investment in career-focused education and the growing need for skilled workers across Central Texas.
