ACC board members serve staggered six-year terms and are elected at-large by registered voters who live within the ACC District, which includes the City of Austin as well as the Austin, Del Valle, Elgin, Hays, Leander, Lockhart, Manor, and Round Rock school districts.
Voters join the ACC District through annexation and pay property taxes in exchange for increased services, reduced tuition, and the right to vote in district elections.
An annexation initiative on the ballot for residents of the Pflugerville school district, not already in the district, did not pass, with 63% voting against and 37% voting for the measure.
“We respect the decision of Pflugerville voters,” says ACC Chancellor Russell Lowery-Hart. “ACC is committed to supporting educational access and pathways for all Central Texans, and we look forward to finding ways to collaborate with the community to meet their goals.”
Comprehensive election results are available on the ACC Elections website. Individual county results are available through the respective county election website. The Board will hold a special meeting on Thursday, November 12, to certify the results.
