February is Black History Month, a time to celebrate Black Americans’ contributions to culture and society. This year’s theme, “African Americans and Labor,” honors the incredible impact of Black Americans on our culture and achievements. Austin Community College District (ACC) celebrates with a series of in-person and hybrid events. 

Events are free, open to all, and held across ACC campuses, including the African-American Cultural Center (Eastview Campus) and the Truth, Racial Healing, and Transformation Center (Highland Campus).

Black History Month 2025 Events at ACC

Tuesday, February 4 | BRASS Kick-off Event: “The Bold Way” Talk Show Screening

  • Time: 11 a.m. – Noon
  • Where: ACC Highland Campus, Make It Center, Bldg. 2000
  • About: Join the Launch Party for ACC’s new student-led TV Show, “The Bold Way.” This exciting show highlights the impact of diverse cultures and backgrounds within ACC and the broader community.

Wednesday, February 12 | Professor Hayes African American Lunch & Learn

  • Time: Noon – 1:30 p.m.
  • Where: ACC Riverside Campus, Bldg. G, Room 8100
  • About: Come out and enjoy a celebration of African American history, with a special focus on the profound impact it has had on the workforce.

Thursday, February 13 | Oak Springs Elementary Black History Month Presentations

  • Time: 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
  • Where: ACC Eastview Campus, African American Cultural Center, Bldg. 2000
  • About: Oak Springs Elementary 4th and 5th grade classes will present their Black History Month projects, highlighting the significant contributions of African Americans in the workforce.

Monday, February 17 | Understanding the Art of Cooking w/ Chef Currie: How Food Impacted the Labor Force

Wednesday, February 19 | The Conversation Lounge: African American Pioneers in the Workforce Panel Discussion

  • About: Tune in for an insightful discussion surrounding the challenges and triumphs associated with being a pioneer in the workplace.

Tuesday, February 25 | Black History Month Trivia Contest

  • Time: Noon – 1:30 p.m.
  • Where: ACC Riverside Campus, Bldg. G, Room 8100
  • About: Join us for a fun and interactive experience as we celebrate Black history through engaging, friendly games of Kahoot.

Friday, February 28 | Black History Month Closing Celebration

  • Time: 3 – 6 p.m.
  • Where: ACC Eastview Campus, Bldg. 8000, Rm. 8500
  • About: Get ready for an afternoon of food, fun, and fellowship as we celebrate the closing of another amazing Black History Month experience.
