Austin Community College District (ACC) reaches a major milestone in the expansion of its Round Rock Campus. Foundations are now complete for both new buildings — Buildings 4000 and 5500. Vertical construction is expected to begin in early August.

Despite several weeks of rain in late June and early July, crews completed eight separate concrete pours on both building foundations to meet the safety and quality standards. Next, crews are preparing for the arrival of structural steel, expected around August 1. Once materials are on-site, vertical construction will begin on both buildings.

Additional site work is also underway. Contractors are drilling 25 structural piers to support canopy systems on Building 5500 and to anchor special protection structures for the new construction house sites. These house sites will support hands-on training for students in construction trades programs.

Underground utility work continues across the campus, including trenching for chilled water lines, new electrical connections, and natural gas lines. These utilities will serve the new facilities and support advanced training labs for programs such as construction, HVAC, welding, and more.

The work is part of ACC’s 2022 General Obligation Bond program to expand hands-on training opportunities in high-demand workforce fields. To follow progress and learn more about ACC bond projects, visit austincc.edu/bond
