Juneteenth Celebration at ACC Eastview Campus"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Hundreds turned out to celebrate Juneteenth at the Austin Community College District (ACC) Eastview Campus on Tuesday, June 18.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The annual event commemorates the announcement of the emancipation of slaves in Texas on June 19, 1865\u2014two and a half years after President Abraham Lincoln&#8217;s official Emancipation Proclamation.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Check out the celebration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Happy Juneteenth from ACC!\" width=\"1080\" height=\"608\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/D8FfOUR0EJQ?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Hosted by the <a href=\"https:\/\/students.austincc.edu\/african-american-cultural-center\/\">ACC\u2019s African American Cultural Center<\/a> in partnership with other college offices and programs, the communitywide Juneteenth celebration included live performances, games, dancing, a dunk tank, giveaways, community tables, local artists, and more.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Get involved!&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The African-American Cultural Center at Eastview Campus promotes an understanding of African-American culture, history, and contributions within ACC and Central Texas communities. It provides a welcoming environment that integrates students into college life and offers support and opportunities for connection and study.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students can also join ACC\u2019s Bold Representation of Achievement Through Student Support (BRASS) program.
