{"id":49140,"date":"2024-09-27T15:13:11","date_gmt":"2024-09-27T20:13:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/students.austincc.edu\/infohub\/?p=49140"},"modified":"2025-04-24T10:25:17","modified_gmt":"2025-04-24T15:25:17","slug":"acc-issues-phishing-alert-warning-on-fraudulent-acceid-emails","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/students.austincc.edu\/infohub\/2024\/09\/27\/acc-issues-phishing-alert-warning-on-fraudulent-acceid-emails\/","title":{"rendered":"ACC issues Phishing Alert: Warning on fraudulent ACCeID emails"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Austin Community College District (ACC) issued a phishing email warning to students, faculty, and staff after an email was sent claiming your ACCeID would expire unless you clicked on the link provided. <strong>ACC did not send this email and it is a phishing attempt.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The emails were sent on Thursday, September 26 from @mail.fresnostate.edu email addresses, with a subject line of &#8220;Your ACCeID Will go on hold&#8221;.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you received the email, please report it as phishing and delete it.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How to Report a Phishing Email:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Open the email in question.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the three dots next to the \u201cReply\u201d arrow.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Choose \u201cReport phishing.\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Delete the email from your inbox.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If you click the link and enter any personal information, you are strongly encouraged to take action based on the instructions below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Actions for Faculty &amp; Staff:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If you clicked on the link and filled out any information, contact the ACC Support Desk at 512-223-TECH or email acctech@austincc.edu for further assistance.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you did not click the link, no additional action is required, but please report the email as phishing and delete it.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Actions for Students:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If you clicked on the link or entered any information, please reach out to the ACC Student Helpdesk at 512-223-4636 for help in securing your account.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you did not interact with the link, simply report the email as phishing and delete it.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>ACC will never send an email asking you to validate, change, or update your credentials (passwords) immediately.
