It represents what we went through, how we created our culture, and where we are today. A lot of our history has been erased or rewritten, so we as people have to keep it alive and updated. Black history is still being made to this day. It influences individuals and communities by staying relevant. We will applaud, praise, and remember our history if no one else will.

How can students and community members amplify Black voices during Black History Month and beyond?

Students and community members can amplify Black voices by choosing not to be a bystander, becoming a vocal ally, and educating themselves. In my opinion, people tend to quietly stand in solidarity to avoid conflict and judgment, which does not benefit us at all. If people want to stand with us, stand on all 10 toes and speak confidently after you’ve researched our history.

Anything else you would like to share?
Always stay true to yourself and YOUR academic journey.
