The Texas A&M Engineering Academy at Austin Community College District just got a major boost to help students succeed. ACC celebrated a $1.5 million gift from Samsung Austin Semiconductor to support this growing partnership with Texas A&M University on Tuesday, February 18.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSamsung Austin Semiconductor has had strong connections with both schools. We are excited to amplify these partnerships with a $1.5 million investment to the Texas A&M Engineering Academy at Austin Community College to inspire high school students to become engineers,\u201d says Jon Taylor, executive vice president of Samsung Austin Semiconductor. \u201cOur commitment to these schools will provide aspiring engineers the opportunity to pursue higher education without the higher cost. Access to these programs is crucial to boosting participation in engineering programs and fortifying Texas\u2019 semiconductor ecosystem.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The academy is a unique program that allows you to co-enroll at ACC and Texas A&M University. You\u2019ll complete your foundational courses at ACC, benefiting from small class sizes, personalized support, and state-of-the-art facilities. Afterward, you\u2019ll transfer to Texas A&M in College Station to complete your degree in engineering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis partnership is transforming the way we prepare students for careers in engineering,\u201d says ACC Chancellor Dr. Russell Lowery-Hart. \u201cAt ACC, we are committed to creating systemic change that removes barriers to opportunity and ensures every student has the support they need to succeed. Together with Texas A&M and Samsung, we\u2019re building a stronger, more inclusive pipeline of engineering talent that will shape the future of our region.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe appreciate the unwavering support from Samsung Austin Semiconductor and Austin Community College. This pivotal partnership means students who might otherwise lack the resources to move to Aggieland, as freshmen, can continue to embark on their Texas A&M Engineering journey,\u201d says  Dr. Robert H. Bishop, vice chancellor and dean of the Texas A&M College of Engineering. \u201cTogether, we\u2019re equipping more students for thriving careers in engineering and technology, directly addressing the state and national demand for engineers.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since launching in 2017, the program has helped more than 700 students work toward their dream of becoming engineers, with 134 graduates and hundreds more on track for success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Texas is experiencing growth in technology, manufacturing, and infrastructure, which means engineering jobs are in high demand. Engineers in Texas earn an average of $118,200 per year, and fields like Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, and Aerospace Engineering offer incredible opportunities.
