Their certification program was made possible through a partnership between ACC, Austin Voices for Education &amp; Youth, and Southwest Key Programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A special completion ceremony was held Saturday, July 26, at ACC\u2019s Northridge Campus, honoring graduates who balanced work, family, and school to achieve a goal that will shape the rest of their lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Among them is Blanca Angelica Landeros, a 39-year-old single mother of two who says the moment wasn\u2019t just about a diploma but setting an example.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI decided to earn a GED because I wanted to graduate first and give my kids an example that it\u2019s never too late. With dedication and perseverance, we can achieve anything we dream.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She described her son Christian, 17, and daughter Jeralyn, 15, as her pride and motivation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI love to learn and keep studying when I have the opportunity,\u201d she says. \u201cWhen we have kids, it&#8217;s so hard to keep up in school because for most parents, we need to work so hard for family, and school is not easy for us. But my favorite part is when teachers teach us with love and patience and how they can help all the time with their students.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Blanca now has her sights set on becoming a preschool teacher.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>[Espa\u00f1ol]<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Acompa\u00f1ando a Blanca, est\u00e1 Brenda, una madre de tres hijos de 46 a\u00f1os, quien comparte con orgullo su deseo de ser un ejemplo para sus hijos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cLo que m\u00e1s me gust\u00f3 fue poder socializar, sentirme parte de ACC y romper con la rutina del hogar. Siempre les digo a otros que nunca es tarde para aprender, crecer acad\u00e9micamente y tambi\u00e9n como persona. No hay que decir \u2018no puedo\u2019\u2014aqu\u00ed estoy como prueba de que s\u00ed se puede. Gracias de coraz\u00f3n a ACC y Austin Voices por ser parte de mi presente\u2026 y de mi futuro.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These students are now eligible for ACC\u2019s Free Tuition program.
