The purchase is funded through the College\u2019s 2022 General Obligation Bond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.austincc.edu\/newsroom\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/81\/2026\/04\/RS32854_20260413-South-East-Travis-County-ca-102_scr-1024x684.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-52923\" style=\"width:701px;height:auto\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOur decision to acquire and repurpose an existing facility not only saves us more than $100 million, it also enables us to begin serving current and future students districtwide \u2014 including those in Southeast Travis and Del Valle, where interest is high, and industry has experienced substantial growth \u2014 years earlier than projected,\u201d says Sean Hassan, ACC Board of Trustees Chair. \u201cThis purchase fulfills a promise we made to voters in the 2022 General Obligation Bond to expand access and capacity in high\u2011demand careers that directly support the region\u2019s growing workforce needs.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By renovating an existing facility rather than building from the ground up, the College can create spaces that reflect student and workforce needs while cutting the cost of construction and saving taxpayer dollars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Building a Talent Pipeline: <\/strong>This site will become the permanent home of the Infrastructure Academy and a premier hub for applied technologies and skilled trades featuring specialized classes and labs for advanced manufacturing, building construction technology, automotive technology, heating, air &amp; refrigeration technology, welding, and other crafts.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Faster Progress: <\/strong>The purchase accelerates ACC\u2019s timeline, allowing the College to open new training facilities and classrooms in one to three years rather than waiting for a new campus to be built.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Fiscally Responsible Growth:<\/strong> This approach saves the College more than $100 million compared to the estimated cost of new construction.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis is about more than a building. It is about expanding what is possible for our students and our community. It allows us to move faster, open more doors, and connect people to real opportunity as our region continues to grow,\u201d says ACC Chancellor Dr. Russell Lowery-Hart. \u201cWe are not just creating space. We are building for what\u2019s next. We will do it the right way, by planning with the people we serve and building something that reflects their future.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.austincc.edu\/newsroom\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/81\/2026\/04\/RS32875_20260413-South-East-Travis-County-ca-158_scr-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-52924\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.austincc.edu\/newsroom\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/81\/2026\/04\/RS32856_20260413-South-East-Travis-County-ca-057_scr-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-52925\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Additional Details<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once built out, the complex will become the College\u2019s second-largest campus, just behind the ACC Highland Campus.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The facility will be the front door for the Infrastructure Academy in partnership with the City of Austin, Workforce Solutions Capital Area, and many other community partners.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The first phase is expected to serve up to 3,000 students, with significant room to expand over time.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The site is located near public transportation lines and includes ample parking.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The complex features flexible space to support robust student support services.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The campus will offer customized learning experiences and labs for industry partnerships and programs.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Next, the College will begin planning and programming for the new complex. A groundbreaking is expected in the coming months.
