{"id":13,"date":"2023-03-02T17:07:56","date_gmt":"2023-03-02T17:07:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/students.austincc.edu\/scholarships\/?page_id=13"},"modified":"2023-09-05T11:11:02","modified_gmt":"2023-09-05T16:11:02","slug":"americorps-service-award","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/students.austincc.edu\/scholarships\/americorps-service-award\/","title":{"rendered":"AmeriCorps Service Award"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>You may be able to earn money for college through AmeriCorps if you participated in the national volunteer service organization.<\/p>\n<p>Visit&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nationalservice.gov\/programs\/americorps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">AmeriCorps<\/a>&nbsp;to get started.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Request education award funds<\/h3>\n<p>Once your AmeriCorps service ends, complete these steps to apply your education award to ACC tuition and fees. &nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Register for ACC credit or Continuing Education classes.<\/li>\n<li>Log in to My AmeriCorps.<\/li>\n<li>Create and submit a request online for your AmeriCorps Education Award benefits.<\/li>\n<li>When creating your request:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Give Austin Community College as the school name (ID No. 35129).<\/li>\n<li>Select to apply your funds to a current or upcoming semester and year.<\/li>\n<li>Indicate that the award is for \u201cEducational Expenses.\u201d (Requests for \u201cforbearance\u201d or \u201cto pay off student loans\u201d are not accepted.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"5\">\n<li>Your request will be sent to ACC to certify that the payment requested is for current educational expenses. &nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Check your email&nbsp;for notice that your request has been approved or denied. Follow the instructions in the notice.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Pay your ACC tuition and fees by your tuition deadline<\/strong>.&nbsp;You will be issued a refund once ACC receives the money from AmeriCorps.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Once ACC receives the payment and applies it to your tuition and fees, you will receive any remaining funds through your selected preference with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.austincc.edu\/students\/tuition-and-payments\/refunds\/select-your-refund-preference\">BankMobile Disbursements, a technology solution, powered by BMTX, Inc.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Awards are split into two payments, at the beginning and middle of the semester.<\/p>\n<p>Questions?&nbsp; Email&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:scholarships@austincc.edu\">scholarships@austincc.edu<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>You may be able to earn money for college through AmeriCorps if you participated in the national volunteer service organization.
