{"id":359,"date":"2025-02-24T10:54:13","date_gmt":"2025-02-24T15:54:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/students.austincc.edu\/scholarships\/?page_id=359"},"modified":"2025-02-24T10:54:30","modified_gmt":"2025-02-24T15:54:30","slug":"texas-scholarship-programs","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/students.austincc.edu\/scholarships\/texas-scholarship-programs\/","title":{"rendered":"Texas Scholarship Programs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The state of Texas offers the following scholarship programs to help students pay for college.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Texas First Program<\/h2>\n<p>The Texas First Program rewards high-achieving students who graduate early with a Texas First Diploma. Eligible students can receive a one- or two-semester scholarship at any Texas public college, university, or technical school. The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) provides this scholarship and verifies student eligibility.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Eligibility Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Be a resident of Texas<\/li>\n<li>Be registered with Selective Service (or exempt)<\/li>\n<li>Graduate early under the Texas First Program with a Distinguished Level of Achievement<\/li>\n<li>Meet additional <a href=\"https:\/\/www.highered.texas.gov\/the-texas-first-program\/\">academic eligibility requirements by THECB<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>THECB will issue a certificate to eligible students confirming their scholarship eligibility. To receive the certificate, the student\u2019s high school counselor (or administrator) must verify that the student meets all requirements for the Texas First Program Diploma and its Distinguished Level of Achievement.<\/p>\n<p>Eligible students should notify the ACC Scholarship Department at <a href=\"mailto:scholarships@austincc.edu\">scholarships@austincc.edu<\/a> of their intent to use their Texas First Program Scholarship at ACC.<\/p>\n<p>Learn more about the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.highered.texas.gov\/the-texas-first-program\/\">Texas First Program<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Texas Nursing Students Scholarship<\/h2>\n<p>The Texas Nursing Students Scholarship Program supports the education of future nurses by providing scholarships to eligible professional and vocational nursing students.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Eligibility Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Be a resident of Texas<\/li>\n<li>Be registered with Selective Service or be exempt<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrate financial need<\/li>\n<li>Be enrolled at least half-time (6 credit hours) in a course of study leading to an undergraduate or graduate degree in professional nursing or one intending to prepare a student for licensure as a licensed vocational nurse<\/li>\n<li>Have made <a href=\"https:\/\/students.austincc.edu\/financial-aid\/maintaining-your-financial-aid\/\">satisfactory academic progress (SAP)<\/a> in accordance with ACC\u2019s financial aid academic progress requirements<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>No application is required.<\/strong> ACC reviews eligible students before each school year. Due to limited funds, not all eligible students will receive a scholarship.<\/p>\n<p>Learn more about the<a href=\"https:\/\/reportcenter.highered.texas.gov\/agency-publication\/guidelines-manuals\/nursing-students-scholarship-program-fy-2025-fact-sheet\/\"> Texas Nursing Students Scholarship Program<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><div class=\"list\"><p class=\"trigger\"><a href=\"#\">Hardship Provisions<\/a><\/p><div class=\"toggle_container\"><div class=\"block\"><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Hardship Provisions<\/h3>\n<p>If a student loses their scholarship eligibility due to academic progress or enrollment, they may qualify for one of the following exceptions:<\/p>\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Appeal<\/strong> \u2013 Students must meet SAP standards to keep their scholarship. If they fall below SAP requirements, they can <a href=\"https:\/\/students.austincc.edu\/financial-aid\/maintaining-your-financial-aid\/\"><strong>submit an appeal<\/strong><\/a> to the Financial Aid Office explaining their situation. If approved, their scholarship may be reinstated.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Less-Than-Half-Time Enrollment<\/strong> \u2013 Students may still receive the scholarship if they provide documentation showing that less-than-half-time enrollment is required<strong> <\/strong>to finish their degree or certificate.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/p>\n<p><strong>Credit Hour Limit<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Students can receive the Texas Nursing Students Scholarship for up to 15 credit hours beyond the requirements of their degree or certificate program. Once they exceed this limit, they are no longer eligible for the scholarship.
