How to Apply for Student Accessibility Services (SAS)<\/h2>\n

Step 1: Enroll with ACC and then Submit SAS Application<\/mark><\/h3>\n

Complete the ACC application <\/a>process. Students must complete the steps to enroll at ACC before applying for services with Student Accessibility Services (SAS).<\/p>\n

Submit the SAS application and then upload supporting information\/documentation<\/a> for your accommodation request. Students should include experiences related to their disability, barriers faced, and\/or previous accommodations.<\/p>\n

** If a student does not have supporting documentation to upload when completing the application, they can still submit the application. Upon submission the student will receive a confirmation email that will include more information on what is needed.<\/p>\n

Step 2: Schedule Access Needs Meeting<\/mark><\/h3>\n

Once your SAS Accommodation Request<\/strong> application and documentation is reviewed, our SAS Connect team will send an email with instructions on how to schedule your initial Access Needs Meeting with a SAS Advocate.
Students can request to meet virtually, in-person, or by phone.<\/p>\n

What is an Access Needs Meetings?<\/strong><\/mark><\/p>\n

For students who are enrolled at ACC<\/mark> and are currently experiencing an academic barrier. An Access Needs Meeting is an interactive, confidential, one-on-one session between a student and SAS Advocate to discuss functional limitations and determine reasonable accommodations in courses.<\/p>\n

Step 3: Meet with SAS Advocate<\/mark><\/h3>\n

In this meeting we will discuss disability related barriers, SAS support services, determine reasonable and appropriate accommodations, student responsibilities, and review policy and procedures.<\/p>\n

We ask that the student is the primary participant in this meeting. With the student\u2019s consent, parent(s)\/guardian(s)<\/a> may attend the meeting. <\/p>\n

Step 4: Request Faculty Notification Letter<\/mark><\/h3>\n

Each semester, request your Faculty Notification Letters (FNL) through the AIM Student Portal to notify your instructors about your accommodations. Accommodations do not go into effect until instructors receive your letters. Implementation of some accommodations can take time, so plan ahead. <\/strong><\/p>\n
