{"id":2,"date":"2022-10-03T15:30:35","date_gmt":"2022-10-03T20:30:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/students.austincc.edu\/student-accessibility-services\/?page_id=2"},"modified":"2026-04-23T14:30:48","modified_gmt":"2026-04-23T19:30:48","slug":"student-accessibility-services","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/students.austincc.edu\/student-accessibility-services\/","title":{"rendered":"Student Accessibility Services"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Mission Statement<\/h2>\n<p>To provide equitable and effective access for students with documented disabilities in order to support their full participation in College classes and activities. <\/p>\n<p>SAS staff serve students in the following ways:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Identify reasonable accommodations<\/li>\n<li>Establish and coordinate accommodations<\/li>\n<li>One-on-one meetings in person, online, or by phone<\/li>\n<li>Access to Assistive Technology <\/li>\n<li>Disability-related problem solving and advocacy<\/li>\n<li>Information and referrals to additional ACC resources<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"top\">More Information<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"#services\" data-type=\"internal\" data-id=\"#services\">Request SAS Services<\/a><br \/><a href=\"#Connect\" data-type=\"internal\" data-id=\"#Connect\">How to Connect with SAS<\/a><br \/><a href=\"#AIM\" data-type=\"internal\" data-id=\"#AIM\">Accessible Information Management (AIM)<\/a>&#8211; Accommodation Portal<br \/><a href=\"#remote\" data-type=\"internal\" data-id=\"#remote\">Resources for Remote Learning<\/a><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Initial Requests for SAS Services<\/h2>\n<p>To establish SAS services, students must complete the SAS Application for Services and Accommodations, provide documentation of diagnosis, and meet with an Accessibility Advocate.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\" id=\"services\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/hunter.accessiblelearning.com\/AustinCC\/ApplicationStudent.aspx\">Request SAS Services<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n<p>Visit <a href=\"https:\/\/students.austincc.edu\/student-accessibility-services\/accessibility-services-new-students\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"19\">Accessibility Services \u2012 New Students<\/a> if you are new to ACC and not yet enrolled in classes, need accommodations for the TSI assessment, or want to find out more about the SAS application process.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"Connect\">How to Connect with SAS<\/h2>\n<p>If prospective or new students, faculty and staff have questions about academic accessibility at ACC can <strong>schedule a SAS Consultation<\/strong> with a SAS Advocate, by <a href=\"https:\/\/students.austincc.edu\/student-accessibility-services\/contact-sas\/\">contacting the campus of your choice<\/a>. In-person or virtual appointments are available Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Friday, from 8 a.m. to noon.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">SAS Consultation<\/h3>\n<p>Need a quick check-in? <strong>SAS Consultations<\/strong> are 30-minute meetings with a SAS Advocate, designed for quick support throughout the semester. SAS Consultations can be set-up by reaching out to campus SAS advocate emails on the <a href=\"https:\/\/students.austincc.edu\/student-accessibility-services\/contact-sas\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/students.austincc.edu\/student-accessibility-services\/contact-sas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">SAS Campus Contact<\/a> page.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For Faculty, Staff and Prospective Students:<\/strong> Get answers to general questions regarding accessibility at ACC. <em><mark style=\"background-color:#ffffff\" class=\"has-inline-color has-black-color\">Have questions about accommodations in your course<\/mark><\/em>, we are happy to consult with you!<\/p>\n<p><strong>For Enrolled Students:<\/strong> Discuss current accommodations, request updates for new courses, or ask general questions about navigating accessibility at ACC. Visit <a href=\"https:\/\/students.austincc.edu\/student-accessibility-services\/accessibility-services-current-or-returning-students\/\">Accessibility Services \u2012 Current Students<\/a> if you already receive accommodations through SAS and would like to request semester accommodations.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">SAS Connect<\/h3>\n<p>SAS Connect is the team that supports students submitting <strong>accommodation applications<\/strong>. This team is a students first contact in requesting accommodations at ACC. They are responsible for reviewing applications and documentation, and then connecting students with a SAS Advocate to schedule an initial Access Needs Meeting. SAS Connect can also support student questions about what type of documentation is needed.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Access Needs Meetings<\/h3>\n<p>Access Needs Meetings are for students who are enrolled at ACC, who have submitted a SAS Application and are currently experiencing an academic barrier. An Access Needs Meeting is an interactive, confidential, one-on-one session between a student and SAS Advocate to discuss functional limitations and determine reasonable accommodations.
