Austin Community College District (ACC) is expanding support for students at the Elgin Campus thanks to a generous $250,000 donation from longtime ACC supporters Jimmy and Cindi Ferguson. This gift was presented to the ACC Board of Trustees during its regular meeting on Monday, March 3, 2025.

“Jimmy and Cindi Ferguson’s generosity reflects their deep commitment to our students’ success, both in and out of the classroom. Their support will help our students have the resources they need to thrive, from financial aid to basic needs like food security,” says ACC Chancellor Dr. Russell Lowery-Hart. “This gift is not just an investment in ACC but in the future of our community.”

The Fergusons have been dedicated supporters of ACC for nearly two decades, helping provide scholarships and resources that make college more accessible. Their latest gift includes:

  • $150,000 for the Ferguson Family McDonald’s Endowed Scholarship
  • $80,000 for a new food pantry endowment at Elgin Campus
  • $20,000 in direct support for the Elgin Campus food pantry

The gift means more scholarship opportunities and expanded food pantry resources—directly helping students focus on their education without worrying about financial and basic needs. In recognition of their commitment to ACC’s mission and student success, the College will name two spaces at the Elgin Campus in their honor:

  • Ferguson Student Services Suite
  • Ferguson Family Student Life Food Pantry

Jimmy Ferguson has served on the ACC Foundation Board since 2006, including leadership roles on the Executive Committee and as Chair of the Nominating Committee.
