Juggling a job and coursework isn’t easy. Whether covering bills, helping your family, or saving up for the future, ACC is proud of you for making it work! Here are some ways to stay on top of both:

1. Use a calendar app

If you skipped this step at the start of the semester, now’s the time to catch up! Plug in class times, quizzes, work shifts, due dates, and exams. Many apps send reminders straight to your phone, and adding color-coding or themes can make it more fun. You’ll also get a better overview of when you’re most free. Some calendars to try are Google, Apple, and Notion calendars.

2. Keep a spreadsheet for assignments

Don’t be intimidated, spreadsheets are your secret weapon. Pick your favorite tool (Google Sheets, Excel, Notion, etc.) and list out all your assignments. Sort them by deadline, class, priority, and weight on your final grade. Visualizing your workload helps reduce stress and makes large tasks feel more manageable.

3. Make a plan with your advisors or coaches

Sometimes, a simple conversation can change everything. ACC’s academic coaches can help you create a schedule that fits your workload, whether that means online classes, part-time options, or other flexible plans. They’re here because they want to support you, so take advantage of their guidance! And if you’re considering a career change, ACC’s Career Services offers free resume consultations and job search support to help you take the next step.

4. Apply early for the right job

If you’re job hunting, timing is key! Plan ahead and apply for roles that fit your schedule.  Whether it’s full-time summer internships, part-time jobs in the fall, or on-campus positions with flexible hours, ACC offers student-friendly roles in support and administrative work, and remote or event-based jobs can also be great options. Check your student portal for openings and browse social media for job tips from fellow students!
