An important security enhancement is coming to Austin Community College District (ACC). As part of ACC Information Technology’s continuous efforts to protect the College’s digital environment and improve the user experience, ACC is transitioning from the current ACCeID Manager to a more secure and modern authentication experience through Okta. This change will take effect starting at 9 a.m. on Friday, December 5, 2025.

The upgrade is a major step forward in strengthening ACC’s cybersecurity defenses, modernizing the College’s identity management systems, and ensuring a more reliable and consistent login experience for both students and employees.

What’s Changing?

  • Platform: Password management, including claiming, updating, and resetting, will move to a more secure environment. All password-related tasks will now take place here: https://austincc.okta.com
  • User Interface: The new system provides a modern, intuitive interface with improved functionality for securely managing ACC credentials.
  • Standardization: ACC already uses Single Sign-On (SSO) for many services, and adding password management to this platform strengthens consistency across College systems and reduces security vulnerabilities.

Why is the Change Necessary?

This transition is designed to significantly enhance ACC’s cybersecurity framework by reducing account vulnerabilities and centralizing how users log in to their ACC systems. The new platform provides stronger security protections, improved monitoring, and a more secure, industry-standard approach to managing student and staff credentials.

What Does This Mean for ACC Users (Students & Staff)?

  • Stronger Protection for Your Credentials: This change introduces a more secure and efficient way to manage ACCeID credentials. The new system is designed to reduce vulnerabilities, provide stronger safeguards around accounts, and ensure personal and institutional data remain protected.
  • Access & Password Management: Users will now manage all aspects of their password—claiming, updating, and resetting—through a more secure Single Sign-On environment. Your existing ACCeID and password will remain the same, but users will access services through the new login page, which offers enhanced security controls and monitoring.
  • Future Communication: In a subsequent communication, instructions will be provided for updating recovery email addresses in ACC records. Maintaining an updated recovery email will allow for secure, self-service password resets.
  • Improved User Experience: Along with stronger protection, the new platform provides a cleaner, more intuitive interface with clear instructions, making password management easier while maintaining higher security standards.
