Alejandra currently works at Austin Community College in the office of Student Affairs as the ASCENDER manager. Ms. Polcik is responsible for developing culturally and linguistically effective outreach strategies to reach diverse communities. These strategies include media (radio, TV, newspapers), social media, websites, and coordinating events to target populations. She manages the transfer program Ascender from Catch the Next, Inc., a college readiness and completion organization based in Austin, Texas. In this program, she manages projects and activities designed to engage, mentor, and help retain underserved students in credit classes.

Diana Gorostieta Martinez is the Outreach Coordinator for the Ascender program under the Office of Student Affairs at ACC. Diana is responsible for promoting student engagement and retention by coordinating cultural and educational events and ensuring that students and mentors have a good and professional relationship. She is an ACC Ascender Alumna and holds an Associate and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing, as well as her most recent accomplishment, an MBA. As a proud first-generation Latina student, she aspires to continue encouraging other students to pursue their educational goals.
