2023 Spring Calendar of Events
Ascender staff will visit classrooms at the beginning of English classes, will go over the spring calendar, and give announcements, and reminders. They will also take questions from students and take photos.
SEXucation SEXsion- Open to everyone
SEX, SEX, SEX! Now that we got your attention, we are going to talk about the birds and the bees, and what goes on under the sheets! This session will give you the chance to ask questions that you’d never dare ask before! Professionals will be presenting on their area of expertise, and they will also be answering all of your sex questions, concerns, and curiosities. OPEN TO EVERYONE

Look Beyond All Borders Through Stories- Open to everyone
In this session, professionals will talk about the historical aspects of immigration and the sociological aspects of a community of immigrants. Students will also have the opportunity to share stories and history about themselves and about their ancestors. An American Gateways representative will be present to provide information about the resources they provide. This will be an open and safe space for everyone.

Student Life Leadership Summit- Open to all ACC students
Student Life presents “The Summit”, an interactive leadership event designed to develop student leaders and enhance NACE Core Competencies. Sharpen your leadership skills with presentations from ACC leaders about mindful practices, attaining your goals, and growing your brand. Make connections with peers and mentors during a student-led workshop, and much more. *Mandatory for Ascender students

Scholarship Essay Session- Ascender students only
A Financial Aid representative will assist students in filling out the ACC General Scholarship application. Students will learn about scholarship opportunities and how to apply for several local and national scholarships. *Mandatory for Ascender students

Mock Interview and Career Day- Ascender students and mentors only
Practice your interview skills with a mock interview. Gain useful and important information that will help you apply for jobs and get familiar with the hiring process. This will also be useful in transferring to a 4-year university. Business casual attire is strongly recommended. *Mandatory for Ascender students and mentors

UT/St. Edward's College Tour- Open to all ACC students
Please join us on a tour and information session at The University of Texas at Austin and St. Edward’s University campuses on Friday, March 31st. Registration required. Space is limited so please register early! We will be leaving out of Hays, Highland and South Austin Campuses. Students should plan to arrive at the campus for check-in by the times listed below. Lunch and snacks provided.

All of the participants of the Ascender family will celebrate the culmination of the student’s first year of college. A Keynote Speaker will address parents and students with a motivational speech. Professors and staff will be recognized during the ceremony, and students will receive the Ascender Graduation stole, during a festive environment. *Mandatory for Ascender students and mentors

CTN Motivational Conference at UT Austin- Ascender students only
Catch the Next’s Transfer Motivational Conference is designed to introduce community college students to university life experiences and to motivate them to transfer to a four-year university. This conference will enable students to gain insight from university representatives and guest speakers on topics such as the admissions processes, financial aid, university transfer resources, and more. *Optional for Ascender students
