ACC’s Honors Program has agreements with certain Texas universities that allow students to easily apply credit they’ve earned at ACC to their university education.
Texas State University
Credit for ACC honors courses are accepted by the Honors College at Texas State University for up to half of the required courses. Visit the webpage for Texas State’s Honors College for detailed information about transferring credit, or email the Texas State Honors College at [email protected].
Southwestern University
ACC Honors students who have a GPA of 3.25 on 24 credit hours are guaranteed admission to Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas. Southwestern will automatically grant admission upon submission and processing of an admission application and all required credentials, including a favorable College Official’s Report (Conduct Report). St. Edward’s University’s Honors Program
Admission Policy to the Honors Program at St. Edward’s University for Students with an Associate Degree Transferring from an Honors Program at a Two-Year School
Policy Statement
Transfer students with an associate degree who have a GPA of 3.5 with 12 credit hours in honors coursework are guaranteed admission to the Honors Program at St. Edward’s University pending admission to the university.
Transfer Student Curriculum in Honors Program
Students entering the Honors Program at St. Edward’s University as first-year students are required to fulfill 24 credit hours of honors coursework. Transfer students entering the program with an associate degree are required to fulfill 13 credit hours of honors coursework. Transfer students will take the following courses:
- Team-Taught Course (3 credit hours satisfying outstanding general education requirement)
- Curiosity Seminar (1 credit hour)
- Contracted Course in the Major or Minor (3 credit hours fulfilled through a course required in the major or minor)
- Thesis Preparation/Research (3 credit hours)
- Senior Thesis (3 credit hours)
Texas Tech University
ACC Honors students who have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above would be appealing candidates for the Honors College at Texas Tech, with our holistic review of applicants. As you are initiating the application process, please contact [email protected] to request a waiver of the $35 application fee.
Upon admission to the Honors College, up to 12 semester credit-hours of ACC-approved Honors credit (with a grade of B- or higher in each class) can be transferred towards the completion of 24 Honors SCH at TTU needed to graduate with Honors.
ACC Honors students can be considered for recruitment scholarships offered through the Honors College, in addition to merit-based aid offered through Texas Tech, if you’re applying for the fall term and submit an application prior to our annual priority application deadline (of December 1st).
Stephen F. Austin State University
The School of Honors at Stephen F. Austin State University (SFA) will accept up to 12 hours of Honors transfer credits from Austin Community College’s Honors Program. These credits must first be accepted by SFA’s Office of Admissions.
SFA offers a $1000 transfer award if the recipient’s transferable GPA is 3.0 to 3.49, and the award is $2,000 per year for students with a transferable GPA of 3.50 or higher. Students do not have to apply for this scholarship. SFA considers all students for it when they are admitted to the university.
Angelo State University
ACC’s articulation agreement with Angelo State University allows ACC Honors students to be automatically accepted into the ASU’s Honors Program upon their acceptance to the university. ASU is part of the Texas Tech University system, offering additional opportunities to students joining the ASU Honors Program upon transferring from ACC.
