What are the eligibility requirements?
To be in the Honors Program at Austin Community College, you must fill out an application and meet ONE of the following criteria:
Top 15% of high school graduating class.
Cumulative high school GPA of 3.5 or higher.
ACT score of 26 or higher.
SAT score of 1170 or higher (in verbal and math sections).
Cumulative college GPA of 3.25 or higher, with the completion of nine (9) hours of transferable college coursework.
What if I fall short of the eligibility requirements?
Since intellectual motivation is a significant factor in determining academic success, those who fall slightly short of the criteria, but who wish to undertake the challenge, may be admitted at the discretion of the Honors Associate Dean. For students who are returning to college after at least five years and would like a “fresh start,” we will consider only the most recent college grades. Contact
[email protected] for details.
How do I register for an honors class?
Using this
form, make a registration request for individual courses. The Honors Program staff will register you for your requested classes, after which you will receive emailed verification. Only the Honors Program staff may register students for Honors courses; students may not register themselves.
What can I expect in a typical honors course?
