The start of the fall semester is almost here and the College wants to see you succeed! ACC is here to make sure you have everything you need to start the semester strong. Here are some tips and guides to help you prepare for your first day on campus.
Finding Your Class
Figuring out where your classes are can be tricky. To get started — check your course schedule or class syllabus. It should tell you when your class meets and where you need to go. It looks something like this:

Most campuses have an easy-to-remember numbering style. The first number tells you what building to go to, and the second number tells you what floor the room is on.
- Example: Room 1142: Building 1000 at Cypress Creek Campus; 1st Floor; Room 1142
Getting to Campus
Parking at ACC is FREE for students. You just need to get a permit. You can apply for one online, and they’re digital, so you don’t have to worry about going somewhere to pick it up.
Visit the ACC parking permit website to get yours before the first day of class.
If you don’t want to drive — we got you! ACC works with CapMetro to offer FREE, unlimited rides on CapMetro all semester. Eligible ACC students can sign up for the CapMetro Green Pass to take advantage. With your Green Pass, you can ride CapMetro Fixed Route Service, Express Bus Service, MetroAccess, MetroRail services, and their new on-demand transit service, Pickup. Click here to sign up.
Getting to Know Your Campus
It helps to get familiar with our campuses before the first day. Visit the ACC campus web pages. The College is working on a wayfinding app to make finding your way around campus easier and will pilot it this fall. There are now standing kiosks at entryways and welcome desks at every campus that you can also access.
Put Your Safety First
When you’re here, we want you to feel safe and welcome. Before classes start, take a look at ACC’s standard safety protocols. There are FIVE simple actions you can get familiar with so that you know what to do if there’s ever an emergency on campus. Click here to learn more. Plus, take a couple of minutes to sign up for ACC’s Emergency Alert Notification System.
Our Emergency Alert will send you safety and security-related notifications via email and text. This is how we let you know about things happening on campus that could impact your class schedule — such as campus closures, impending weather, and safety alerts.
Find Support
We know going to college is only PART of your life. You’re probably juggling family and work, too. Don’t forget, we can help. There are tons of free resources and support services available for you at ACC — from child care support to food pantries, mental health counseling, tutoring, career services, emergency financial aid, tech support, and more. We are here to help you succeed. Get to know all the ways ACC is here to support you.
Get Involved
College should be fun and rewarding. We encourage you to get involved and find a community of Riverbats you can connect with. ACC’s Student Life Office is filled with opportunities.
