Welcome back, Riverbats! As we kick off the spring 2025 semester on Tuesday, January 21, Austin Community College District (ACC) is here to ensure you have a successful and enriching experience. As you head back to campus, you will find employees at entrances across all 11 campuses to greet you, hand out swag, and provide any assistance you might need as you embark on this new academic journey.

“I’m thrilled to welcome our students back to campus,” says ACC Chancellor Dr. Russell Lowery-Hart. “At ACC, we’re reimagining what it means to truly support our students. From the moment you arrive, we’re here to help you start strong, stay on course, and achieve your goals. Every process and resource is designed with you in mind—because your success is our mission.”

To help you navigate the first week and beyond, here are some essential tips and resources:

1. Find Your Classes with Ease

  • Course Schedule: Before your first day, review your course schedule to confirm class times, locations, and instructor details.
  • Campus Maps: ACC has 11 campuses, each with unique layouts. Access campus maps to locate buildings, classrooms, labs, and Student Life offices.

2. Utilize Free Resources to Support Your Success

  • Financial Help: Explore some other ways to receive financial assistance throughout your academic journey.
  • Tutoring & Coaching: Access in-person and online tutoring to help you excel in your courses.
  • Mental Health Support: Licensed counselors are available to support your well-being throughout the semester.
  • Food Pantries: The food pantry is free of charge, students are able to grab snacks, small meal items they can quickly warm up in the microwave, and other non-perishables.
  • Child Care Vouchers:  Scholarships are awarded on a semester-by-semester basis, and applications are reviewed year-round. Additional child care resources are available to reduce stress and ensure success in school.
  • Community Connections: Get connected to resources for housing, transportation, and other essential needs.

3. Engage with Student Life

During the first week, ACC’s Office of Student Life will host Weeks of Welcome events, including meet-and-greets, interactive activities, and open houses. These events are designed to help you find your community and get involved on campus.

4. Stay Informed and Connected

  • ACCmail: Set up and regularly check your student email for important updates, deadlines, and instructor communication.
  • BlackboardKeep track of classes, assignments, grades, and e-mails. All in one place.
  • Important Dates: Keep track of academic calendars and tuition deadlines to ensure you stay on top of your responsibilities.

If you’re still finalizing your schedule, ACC offers flexible learning options, including 14-, 12-, and 8-week courses that start later in the semester. These options allow you to begin classes at a time that fits your life while staying on track toward your goals. For more information, visit austincc.edu/shortsemester.
