Become an SI Leader

Requirements for SI Leaders

• Nomination by ACC faculty member who wants SI next semester.
• Grade of B or higher in course to be supported.
• Have notes from the course to be supported
• Reside in the state of Texas

Duties and Responsibilities

• Attend lecture and take notes as a model student
• Conduct 2-3 Supplemental Instruction (SI) sessions (3 hours total) per week
• Complete 1 hour of administrative tasks per week (session planning and logs, update attendance data, maintain a Google calendar, respond to emails from the SI Team, etc.)
• Submit bi-monthly timesheets on time
• Market SI sessions to students in the class
• Complete all synchronous and asynchronous SIL trainings

• Hour counts are per unique course:
  • SIL can support up to two unique courses, at which point they would get the hours for each course as noted in the above table
  • Paired courses will be treated as two unique courses, hour counts will be determined between the SIL and the SI Admin Team
  • An SIL supporting multiple sections of the same course (with the same professor, in the same modality) would get the hours for one course
• For 8-week courses: SIL needs to have taken the course with the nominating professor within the last year and must have access to their previous class notes; hour counts will be determined between the SIL and the SI Admin Team

Overview of Hiring Process

1. Recieve a nomination from ACC faculty
2. Accept nomination
3. Apply for position in Workday before deadline
4. Consent to Background check
5. Conduct interview with SI Admin
6. Complete onboarding tasks
7. Attend/complete ACC and SI training
