El Centro welcomes public intellectual Pedro Gatos for our next Cafecito Con…event, happening on Monday April 20th from 3 – 4PM. Known for his journalism and weekly radio show, “Bringing Light Into Darkness” on local KOOP station 91.7, Mr. Gatos is recognized for his extensive knowledge around the Bay of Pigs invasion. Join us for an intimate conversation with Mr. Gatos that looks at the importance of this historic event, related to understanding US foreign policy and geopolitics even today, 65 years after the invasion.

We’re bringing award-winning author, editor, and UT Austin faculty member Frederick Luis Aldama to Riverside to share his journey from boyhood comic fan to one of the leading forces amplifying Latine creative work today. This special Cafecito event ties in to our spring book club pick, Tales From La Vida, and we’re thrilled to offer this chance to engage in-person with the editor of our latest book club pick.
