The Academy for Global & Cultural Learning

Join the Academy for Global & Cultural Learning (AGCL) for a world of learning. The AGCL program appeals to both student & traveling business groups and is designed to relate directly to home country areas of academic and professional interests.

Our goal is to expand program participants’ knowledge of Texas regional and national history, current events and global readiness with special attention to cultural awareness and social adaptation. This combination creates a customized learning opportunity across school and workplace specific interests within the Greater Austin area that is broad in scope, but targeted in delivery.

The objective of the Global Learning program is to offer program participants a two-week program to enrich their cultural, technical, and academic experience within the State of Texas and overseas.

Global Learning in International Programs at Austin Community College promotes global readiness through projects with purpose with special attention given to balancing learning, hospitality and travel. A goal of project-based learning is to give the learner a hands-on opportunity to exercise soft and technical skills, like creativity and communication and analytical thinking, while promoting the development of core values like empathy to foster a sense of corporate social responsibility in future generations of business leadership.

Students from Aarhus Business College visit Kong Screen Printing in Austin as part of the small business tour and demo experience.

What Our Participants are Saying

“It has helped me to improve my English skills, which is really important, when you study business, and it also helped me to see a different way of teaching and a different school system than we have in Denmark. This will help me in my job, because it is a kind of internship, which can be written in my CV.”

– Student, 2017 (Hernginsholm Erhvervsskole & Gymnasier)

“Everything was perfect. I hope this tour can be given to all the students. Because it gives so much.”

-Student, 2019 (Aarhus Business College)

“I know much more about the culture differences between Texas and Denmark. I’ve learned that I don’t have to be shy when I’m meeting new people.”

-Student, 2017 (Hernginsholm Erhvervsskole & Gymnasier)
