Get Help With Your Scholarship Essay
Having a well-written statement is crucial for allowing the selection committee to gain insights into your background, including the path that brought you to ACC, as well as your future plans and aspirations.
A thoughtful and clearly articulated statement helps reviewers understand who you are beyond grades and test scores. It provides context for your experiences, highlights your goals, and allows you to explain how this scholarship will support your academic journey. Taking the time to reflect on your story and present it effectively can make a meaningful difference in how your application is evaluated.
Schedule an appointment to meet with an ACC Writing Center Specialist online or in person for assistance with your essay.

ACC Scholarships FAQs
Can I apply for scholarships as a non-traditional student?
Yes, ACC scholarships are for every kind of student, including international, adult or career-focused Riverbats. Awards based on background and identity, as well as need-based scholarships can help you afford college.
Can I start my application, take a break, then finish later?
Yes, at any point during the application, you may select “Save and Keep Editing”, then return to the page to continue. You may have to log in again using your ACCeID and password.
Do I need to fill out a separate application for each scholarship opportunity?
At ACC, we simplify the application process for you. Once you have completed an application, you will automatically be matched with scholarships that you meet the qualifications for. There’s no need to sort through different scholarships and apply.
When are scholarship funds applied to tuition and fees?
ACC Foundation Scholarships are paid directly toward tuition and fees by the start of the semester. Depending on the amount of the scholarship, a book stipend may also be issued.
What is a merit based scholarship vs a need based scholarship?
Merit based scholarships are awarded to students based on their academic success and achievements, such as high grades.
Need based scholarships are awarded based on the financial need of a student as determined through the FAFSA. Although not required, filing the FAFSA may also put you into consideration for certain scholarships.
However, eligibility for many of the ACC Foundation scholarships are based on criteria other than just merit or financial need.
How can I strengthen my scholarship application?
Attaching additional documentation is highly encouraged in order to strengthen your scholarship application. For instance, letters of recommendation can significantly boost consideration. Providing a record of community involvement or volunteerism further demonstrates personal values and active participation. Also, having your personal statement reviewed by another individual can help catch any errors and ensure it is clear and compelling.
