The “Bats to Cats” transfer program aims to help Riverbats become Bobcats by supporting the transfer journey from Austin Community College District to Texas State University.
Requirements and Included Majors
★ Must be a high school graduate or have earned a high school equivalency (GED)
★ Cannot be former Texas State Students
★ Cannot have an already earned a bachelor’s degree
★ Must be currently enrolled in courses at ACC
★ Must remain enrolled at ACC for one long semester (spring or fall) after declaring for the program
★ Must be pursuing a Bats to Cats major, and have the corresponding major declared at ACC. Click the link for the Bats to Cats Program Pathway:

The Bats to Cats declaration form is open at set times during the academic year. You must complete the form to declare your intent to transfer to Texas State and specify the semester in which you plan to enroll. We recommend you speak with your advisor first to discuss your planned timeline.

You’ll receive updates and check-ins from both ACC and Texas State. Note: Texas State will contact you at your personal email address, and ACC will email you at your ACC gmail account.
★ Follow your Bats to Cats Program Pathway
Meet with your ACC advisor as you select courses for your upcoming semesters at ACC. Your advisor will be your guide to ensure you are registering for the right courses on your Bats to Cats journey. Find your advisor.
★ Maintain Eligibility
ACC shares Bats to Cats students’ academic records with Texas State each semester. Texas State will review your eligibility the semester before your transfer to verify if you meet Texas State transfer requirements:
- Students with 15-29 credit hours must have a 2.5 GPA in transferable coursework
- Students with 30+ credit hours must have a 2.25 GPA in transferable coursework
Once confirmed, your onboarding to Texas State University will begin!

General Questions
Will I be able to join the Bats to Cats program if I have already completed a bachelor's degree?
No. Unfortunately students who have already earned a bachelor’s degree cannot participate in this program. See the “Don’t see my major?” paragraph for more information and resources on general transfer to Texas State University.
I attended Texas State previously. Can I join Bats to Cats?
No. Unfortunately students who have already taken courses at Texas State cannot participate in this program. See the “Don’t see my major?” paragraph for more information and resources on general transfer to Texas State University.
Can a student who took Dual Enrollment courses at Texas State join Bats to Cats?
No. Students cannot be former Texas State students to join the Bats to Cats program. See the “Don’t see my major?” paragraph for more information and resources on general transfer to Texas State University.
Will I still be able to join the program if I am not currently enrolled in classes?
Students must be currently enrolled in courses to access and complete the declaration form. Additionally, once a student declares they must stay enrolled at ACC for one full semester before transferring to Texas State. Please keep this in mind as you decide if Bats to Cats is right for you.
Am I eligible for Bats to Cats if I am pursuing a Texas State Online degree program?
No. Unfortunately students interested in fully online programs at Texas State are not eligible for this program or the associated financial award. In addition, Texas State online degree programs are NOT eligible for assured merit awards.
Questions about the Declaration Form
I cannot access the declaration form or am seeing OOPS SOMETHING WENT WRONG, what should I do?
The form is attached to your personal account, and can only be accessed by students currently enrolled in classes at ACC. The form also closes at certain points in the year to account for processing student submissions and will reopen when the next declaration period begins.
Please ensure your declaration form responses were not auto filled using saved data in your computer. If you have reviewed the form and you are still having issues, please email [email protected].
Bats to Cats Participants
How long after I submit the declaration form will I hear from someone with Bats to Cats?
After you submit the declaration form, the team reviews to ensure their major is aligned with their pathway. This can take 5-7 business days. If there are actions needed on your part, we will reach out to you at your ACC email. Texas State will also begin sending you emails, but they will use your personal email address.
How can I update my major and/or the semester I want to enroll at Texas State?
Bats to Cats students can update personal information, request a major change, or change their TXST start term, by logging in to the TXST Admissions Status Portal and completing the appropriate request form.
If you have not yet created a password for the portal or have forgotten your password, click the “Forgot Password” link and follow the reset password instructions.
Where will I receive information from Texas State?
Students who are part of the Bats to Cats program will begin to receive emails from Texas State University at the personal email address they included on their declaration form. The first email will include instructions on how to access the TXST Admissions Status Portal.
Yes. ACC will only send your ACC transcripts to Texas State on your behalf. If you have attended another college, you will need to request official transcripts from those schools be sent to Texas State.
How do I change my intended semester of entry after I have submitted the declaration form?
Log in to your Texas State Applicant Portal and select Update Your Information in the yellow box titled Bats to Cats. Change your Entry Term to your new desired semester of entry. Please note there are deadlines associated with each entry term. If you want to chance to an earlier deadline, please reach out to [email protected].
I no longer wish to be a part of Bats to Cats. How do I withdraw my application?
Log in to your Texas State Applicant Portal and select Withdraw Application under Have your plans changed?. If you have transferred to Texas State or another 4 year institution, let us know using this survey. We would love to celebrate your achievement at our annual transfer celebration!
