Before You Get Started — Become A Riverbat!

The Financial Aid Office can only process your application if you are an official ACC student. If this is your first semester at ACC, you need to apply for admission first.

When to Apply

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) opens October 1 each year for the following academic year. Apply as early as possible. Some funds are limited and awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. You can also apply for scholarships at: austincc.edu/scholarships.

Step 1: Submit the FAFSA (or TASFA)

Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at studentaid.gov using ACC school code 012015.

The FAFSA is for U.S. citizens and eligible non-citizens. If you don’t qualify for FAFSA, you may still be eligible for financial aid through the Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA). 

Step 2: Track Your Status

Check your ACCmail and Self-Service regularly for updates and any documents we may need from you. Submit any requested documents through StudentForms. Responding promptly to any requests will help avoid delays.

Step 3: Accept Your Offer

You will receive an ACCmail notice when your financial aid offer is ready. Log in to Self-Service to review and accept or reject each type of aid offered. Your offer may adjust based on your final enrollment.

Step 4: Receive Your Funds

ACC applies your financial aid directly to your tuition and fees. Any remaining funds are refunded to you through BM Technologies, Inc. Set up your refund preference early, even if you do not expect a refund.

Priority Dates

Submit your application by these dates to ensure your aid is ready before tuition is due. Students who miss the priority date may still receive financial aid but may need to pay tuition before aid arrives.
