Reapply for Financial Aid

You must reapply for financial aid every year in order to maintain your eligibility. The FAFSA determines your eligibility for only one academic year which includes Fall, Spring, and Summer.

You can complete the FAFSA online as early as October 1st, prior to the academic year your plan to attend ACC. Make sure to submit your FAFSA and all required documents by the priority date to ensure your award is available before payment is due.

Follow the steps to apply for financial aid here.

Summer Applicants

Summer is considered the final semester of the academic year, so you must submit the current FAFSA to apply for summer funds. For example, if you plan to take classes at ACC during summer 2020, you’ll need to submit the 2019-2020 FAFSA at FAFSA.gov.

Check on the status of your application on Self-Service and, if applicable, turn in any missing documents. Once your application is complete, the Financial Aid Office will offer you any financial aid you are eligible for the summer.

What awards are available over the summer?
Grants (free money), loans (borrowed money), and work-study (part-time work) are all offered to students over the summer. However, some funds are given on a first come, first served basis.

NOTE: If you received the Pell Grant while enrolled full-time during the fall and spring, you must enroll in at least 6 credits to receive additional Pell Grant funds over the summer. Moreover, annual loan limits may affect your loan eligibility Learn More.

Are you attending ACC for only the summer?
If you are transferring to ACC for only the summer semester, you are not eligible to receive financial aid at Austin Community College. You may be able to obtain financial aid from your home college or university. Please contact your home institution for more information.
